Enjoying the Seasons of Life

A message from Chantell Cooley

Life is made of seasons—each one with its own beauty, its own challenge, and its own purpose. Just like the weather, some seasons bring warmth and joy, while others feel cold, uncertain, or even unbearable. But every season, no matter how difficult, carries with it the potential for growth and transformation.

Take summer in the South, for instance—intense, heavy, almost too much to bear. It’s a season many dread. But then comes fall, a breath of fresh air that reminds us: change is coming. The heat breaks, the colors shift, and something within us begins to awaken with hope again.

The same is true in our walk with God. There are seasons when nothing seems to go right—when dreams feel delayed, doors stay shut, and everything we touch seems to wither. You may feel stuck, overlooked, or even pruned. But let me remind you: pruning isn’t punishment—it’s preparation. God is refining your character. He’s cultivating humility. He’s reminding you who holds your future.

When we don’t understand the “why” of a hard season, we can still trust the Who. God sees the full picture, and He never wastes a season.

I’ve come to call this the process of life. It’s not about avoiding hardship—it’s about embracing the shaping. Each struggle strengthens you. Each delay deepens your roots. Each “no” is forming something in you that will be essential when the “yes” finally comes.

You may think you’re ready for your next assignment, but God may still be building the inner resilience you’ll need to carry it. We often want elevation, but God first wants foundation.

Let me be honest—I’ve had seasons where I wanted to run. Seasons where the pressure felt too intense and I questioned everything. But I’ve learned that breakthrough comes not by avoiding the fire, but by walking through it—hand in hand with Jesus. You can’t develop spiritual muscles without resistance.

Ask yourself today:

  • What season am I in?

  • Am I in a time of rest or refining?

  • Is this a time of release or responsibility?

You may be in a beautiful, flourishing season. If so, celebrate! But don’t forget how God walked you through the harder days to get here.

Or maybe you’re in a quiet, confusing place where nothing feels alive. If that’s you—don’t give up. Don’t retreat. Keep moving forward. Even one small step in obedience can shift the entire atmosphere around you. The same God who brought you into this season will carry you through it—and when it shifts, you’ll be stronger, wiser, and more prepared for what’s next.

One thing I know for sure: seasons change. But God’s faithfulness remains steady through them all. If you allow Him to work deeply in your life today, you’ll find yourself walking in peace, purpose, and strength tomorrow.

You are not stuck. You are being shaped.
